Local Information For Bloomfield Rise

Paulton – The Local Area

The Romans knew it, and so did the Saxons; but it took hundreds of years before Paulton was officially recognized as an “area of special architectural or historic interest”. Modern residents confirm it simply as a great place to call home and, at Bloomfield Rise on the edge of the village, Woodstock Homes is building a fine selection of fourteen 3 and 4 bedroom detached houses.

Looking around, there are still landmarks that tell of Paulton’s industrial heritage from the past two centuries. Coal mines, quarries, an iron foundary, and the nearby canal were once the backbone of the community, whereas now – after a busy day working in Bristol or Bath – the village makes a refreshing sight in one of the most pleasant corners of the land.

So, is Paulton just another lifeless commuter outpost? Not a bit of it. With a variety of social and sporting groups always eager to attract new members, along with five churches, four pubs, two clubs, a small library, a park and recreation ground, village hall, and a swimming pool, Paulton clearly knows a thing or two about actively involving everyone who lives there. Add a choice of GPs and schools for all ages within a short distance, plus glorious Mendip countryside simply seconds away, and Bloomfield Rise really is ideal for family life.

Paulton boasts several pre schools as well as an infant and junior school. The infant school was judged "good" by Ofsted in 2008 and in 2007 the junior school was judged "outstanding"  - the highest grade achievable.

‘We are really pleased with the efficient and professional way in which everything went. It is often said that moving house is the most stressful thing you will ever do, but on this occasion, that simply wasn't true. A huge thank you to all your team.’
