Church Green, Charfield – The Local Area

Meandering along the quiet B4058, Charfield makes a fine home for anyone who works locally or commutes to Bristol, Bath, or Gloucester. Junction 14 of the M5 is just over two miles away, and all three cities are within a 22 mile radius of the village. Closer still is Wotton-under-Edge, with a range of shops and important amenities such as a choice of doctors’ surgeries.

Families have the benefit of excellent local schools and playing an important part in village life are the pre-school group, out of school club, the post office and stores, three pubs and the excellent Memorial Hall and playing fields.

Charfield has a real community feel and sense of village life. Yet you’ll find a choice of supermarkets, restaurants, pubs and cinemas not far away , all within a easy access of your new home. In addition there are many shopping and entertainment options not far away at Cribbs Causeway and Yate, both only 10 - 15 minutes away.

The area boasts a host of good local schools. In Charfield itself are several nurseries, a primary school and out of school club. Nearby Thornbury has The Castle School and Marlwood School, both have good ofsted reports and closer still is the Katherine Lady Berkeley School, recently made an academy school.

There is a free bus service to both the Castle School and Katherine Lady Berkeley School from Charfield.

There are several local Doctors surgeries in nearby Wotton Under Edge along with a Dental clininc and chemist. Yate shopping centre hosts a walk in Minor Injuires Unit and Frenchay Hospital is less than 15 miles away.

The area has strong community spirit and benefits from many social clubs and activities, all age groups are catered for and activities include music, yoga, dance and art.

Charfield also has a tennis club and the Village Hall hosts many social events and clubs and can be hired out for events..

There is a local sports centre that forms part of the Katherine Lady Berkeley School and Yate Sports Centre is only a short distance away and offers many facilities including a swimming pool.

Local family friendly pubs include the The Peer Tree Inn, The Railway Tavern and The Plough Inn.

Regional Shopping Centers - The Mall and Cabot Circus

The Mall, Cribbs Causeway, offering over 170 major retail stores, is just minutes away from Church Green. The Cabot Circus shopping centre in the centre of Bristol now provides an unrivalled array of shops, bars and cafes.

Transport Links

Car: The M4 / M5 are 10 minutes away providing easy access to Cardiff, Swindon, London and beyond

Buses: Wessex Connect, South Glos and Bristol all run regular bus services through the area

Trains: The nearest train stations are Bristol Parkway and Bristol Temple Meads. Both offer excellent links to London, Birmingham, Cardiff and Devon and Cornwall

Airports: Bristol Airport is less than and hour away and provides links to most of Europe.
